Healthy Game Day Finger Foods

Contrary to popular belief, it is possible to make healthy choices on game days. It just calls for some pre-planning and preparation. I recommend just a couple things to set you up for success:

  • Whether you are going tailgating or going to a friend’s house to watch a game always bring at least one thing you KNOW you can eat.
  • Avoid hanging out by the table with food or in the kitchen. If you can’t help but be near the food at least put your back to it so it’s not in your line of vision. Remember, you are there to socialize with friends and/or family, not to overindulge in food! 

If you want to know if your snack or choice of food is a “healthy option” ask yourself these questions:

  • Is it made up of mainly protein and non-starchy vegetables?
  • Is there little to no added fat? 

If you answered yes to both of these then you're on target for healthy eating!
