You customized treatment plan for weight loss starts with:
- Consultation with a registered dietitian
- Medication evaluation with a nurse practitioner, if appropriate and desired
- Evaluations, if needed, for physical activity and weight-related conditions
Depending on your desired treatment plan, appointments can be scheduled weekly, every two weeks, monthly or every two-three months.
Our program is a good approach if you:
- Have a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or more, or 27-29.9 with certain weight-related conditions
- Are 18 or older
- Had weight loss surgery in the past and want weight management or are experiencing weight gain

What are weight-related conditions?
There are a number of health problems related to weight including but not limited to high blood pressure, diabetes/prediabetes, obstructive sleep apnea, polycystic ovarian syndrome, significant joint/back pain and fatty liver disease.
How do weight management medications work?
Prescription medications used to treat obesity work in different way, most are used to help you feel less hungry or fuller sooner.
What medications are available to treat obesity?
The FDA has approved several weight loss medications, some are considered for long-term use including: Wegovy (semaglutide), Saxenda (liraglutide), Zepbound (tirzepatide), Contrave (bupropion and naltrexone) and Qsymia (phentermine and topiramate). There are several other medication available to help with weight loss that are considered “off-label” or for short-term use.
How do I know if medications are appropriate for me?
Choosing a medication that is right for you is a decision between you and your healthcare professional. Important factors to consider in this decision include the likely benefits of weight loss, medication side effects, current health issues and other medications, family medical history and the cost of the medication.
Do weight loss medications replace the need for healthy eating habits and physical activity?
Medications are meant to be used in combination with a healthy lifestyle program, not replace it.
Will I need to take weight management medication for the rest of my life?
We know obesity is a chronic disease needing life-long management but how long you will take medication for weight management depends on whether the medication helps you lose weight and keep it off or whether you are experiencing serious side effects. Continuing with weight management medication or treatment plan changes will be discussions with your healthcare professional.
Does my insurance cover the cost of obesity treatment and medications?
Some insurance plans, but not all, cover the cost of medications and weight management appointments. It is important for you to contact your insurance provider to find out if your plan covers obesity treatment and obesity medications.
