This ongoing class is for those with Parkinson's disease. Rock Steady Boxing was developed to increase power, strength, flexibility, speed and balance. Boxing works by moving your body in all planes of motion while continuously changing the routine as you progress through the workout. These classes have proven that anyone, at any level of Parkinson's, can lessen their symptoms and lead a better quality of life.

Requirements Before Your First Class

You must be alert with minimal mental dysfunction and must be able to walk independently or with a cane. You also will be required to take a pre-assessment and need a physician's referral before starting classes.

What Does the Class Cost?

$125 per month, which includes up to five classes per week, Monday-Friday 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Boxing gloves are required. They are available for purchase if needed.

Class Levels Offered:

  • Level 1 & 2 boxers usually have experience with some form of athletics and are able to tolerate a more physically intense workout. Parkinson's symptoms are less evident in level 1 & 2 boxers. Classes are fast paced with quick transitions between exercises. The focus of these classes is to improve or maintain overall fitness. Boxers in this class require minimal physical assistance.
  • Level 3 boxers usually have more pronounced Parkinson's symptoms. Level 3 is suitable for boxers with balance impairments and for those with minimal prior athletic experience. Classes aim to improve or maintain flexibility, balance, posture, deep breathing, vocals, range of motion, and fine and gross motor skills.
  • Level 4 boxers have more pronounced Parkinson’s symptoms and use wheelchairs or walkers. All exercises are the same as level 3, but are modified for those with balance impairments or limited mobility.
