Hospital Bag: What Should I Pack?

Be prepared for your big day with our hospital bag packing list for you, your baby and support person.

Hospital Bag Packing List for Mom: 

  • Photo ID
  • Insurance card or information
  • Birth plan (if you have one)
  • Name of your baby's pediatrician 
  • Eyeglasses (if you wear them), contact lens case and solution
  • Cell phone and charger
  • A warm robe or sweater
  • Lip balm
  • Headband or ponytail holder
  • Sugar-free hard candy or lozenges to keep your mouth moist during labor (candy with sugar will make you thirsty)
  • Toiletries and personal items: hairbrush, toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, face wash, shampoo, conditioner and lotion
  • Loose, lightweight clothing and nightgown
  • Comfortable going-home clothes in six-month maternity sizes and flat shoes

Optional Items for Mom:

  • Breastfeeding pillow
  • Hairdryer, curling iron or flat iron
  • Earbuds to listen to music on your phone
