What is music therapy?
Music therapy is a clinically oriented practice that uses active music experiences –such as music listening, music making, songwriting and singing–to support overall well-being, mind, body and spirit. Work with a board-certified music therapist in a collaborative, low pressure environment to help you relax, express your feelings, connect with others and feel more like yourself.
Why music therapy?
- Feel a stronger sense of belonging
- Discover new ways to express yourself
- Learn how to calm your body and mind
- Understand your emotions better
- Experience moments of hope, joy and strength
How does music therapy help cancer patients?
Many people have found music therapy helpful during cancer treatment. Research shows it can:
- Help manage side effects of chemotherapy and radiation
- Reduce anxiety and improve your mood
- Make it easier to cope with grief and tough emotions
- Help you feel less alone and more understood
How is music therapy different from a sound bath?
Music therapy is a clinical service led by a board-certified therapist, tailored to health goals. It can include playing, listening to or creating music to help with pain, stress, mood and more.
Sound baths are relaxing experiences where you listen to soothing sounds like gongs or crystal bowls. While calming, they are not clinical.
Both can support well-being – just in different ways. Many people enjoy both.
You don’t need musical experience to participate – just a willingness to explore and connect!
