High Risk Pregnancy Factors
A pregnancy may be considered high risk for many different reasons ranging from the need to monitor and manage your previous health conditions more closely during pregnancy to life-threatening conditions.
Some factors where you may benefit from having a maternal-fetal medicine specialist involved in your care include:
- Age – if you are age 35 or over
- Health complications – if you have high blood pressure, diabetes or other health conditions that need to be closely monitored during your pregnancy for your safety as well as your baby’s safety
- Unexpected circumstances – these may arise during the course of your pregnancy, creating complications for your pregnancy and delivery
We know these risk factors can create stress for you during a time when you want to be happy and focus on having a healthy baby. We are here to provide you with the information you need to make the best decisions for you and your baby, and to provide assurance through care and compassion, knowledge and expertise.
