Residency Program for Newly-Graduated Nurses
Start your nursing career at Kearney Regional Medical Center confidently and successfully with our residency program for newly-graduated nurses. You’ll gain knowledge and receive professional support in your first nursing role while learning from KRMC's clinical experts. This program provides new registered nurses with help and guidance to successfully transition into your nursing practice!
Our Nurse Residency Program will pair you with experienced preceptors to gain insight on the day-to-day operations of the nursing departments at KRMC. The team of residents will also gain opportunities to learn from nurses in their desired field and experience the transition between school and career together.
This Six-Week Program Will Provide:
- Experience managing sophisticated technologies
- Training in leadership and problem-solving
- Certification in:
-
- Basic Arrhythmia
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support — if designated in critical care area
*NCLEX prep courses will be provided to all residents (You do not need to have your state exam prior to starting the program)
Employment Opportunities Are Available In:
• Intensive Care Unit
• Medical Surgical Unit
• Progressive Care Unit
Residents will continue to receive monthly education topics for their first year.

Who is eligible to apply for this program?
This program is open to new graduate nurses, or those with limited experience.
Requirements:
- Graduate of Accredited Nursing School
- RN Licensure with <1 year of experience
or
- RN Licensure with no prior hospital experience.
- Current BLS certification.
What rotations are included?
Residents will have 4 hours of education per week. No classes or activities will take place on weekends or holidays.
What kind of clinical education will be provided?
-Crash carts, code blue, rapid response
-IV starts, infusion therapy, blood transfusions
-Purposeful rounding/bedside rounding
-Basic arrhythmia
-Chest tubes
-Cardioversions, paracentesis, thoracentesis
-Orthopedic joint replacements
-Ventilators, cpap, bipap
-Lab interpretation (abgs, cms, cbc, latic)
-Sepsis protocols
-Isolation precautions
