Critical access hospitals run on margins that can’t absorb an unreviewed chargemaster. Heartland Health Alliance is bringing a four-day Revenue Integrity and Chargemaster Essentials Boot Camp to Lincoln, Nebraska. This Boot Camp is built specifically for critical access hospitals. Across seventeen modules, the program moves from revenue integrity fundamentals, payor contracting, and medical necessity through coding edit systems and claims submission, into cost-based reimbursement, Method I and Method II billing, and swing bed rules, and then into the heart of the course: seven modules on the chargemaster itself and the charging principles behind every department — surgery, supplies and implants, pharmacy and infusion, imaging, laboratory, therapy, the clinic, and the emergency department.
New for 2026 is a full module on audits, appeals, and denials management, along with expanded coverage of price transparency and the public reporting of charges.
This is a working course, not a conference. Attendees leave with a complete reference workbook and the research skills to answer their own Medicare questions. This course is designed to be attended as a team: CFOs, revenue cycle leaders, rural health clinic leaders, chargemaster specialists, coders, billers, finance and reimbursement staff, UR and case managers, and other health information professionals will all find their own work in this curriculum.
