Vice President, Health System Services
Carol leads the Bryan Health rural division, which includes the Heartland Health Alliance, Bryan Critical Access Hospital (CAH) network, rural consulting services, managed rural hospitals and owned rural hospital. She is also responsible for physician services including physician recruitment, physician medical education, physician workflow consulting; and performance excellence/lean.
Carol has an extensive background in health care finance with over 20 years of experience. In addition to her role at Bryan, Carol is involved in the Nebraska Hospital Association (NHA) and Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA). She has served as a board of director for both organizations and is currently national board chair elect of HFMA. Carol is the recipient of various high distinction awards including the HFMA Muncie Gold Merit Outstanding Service Award and Founders Medal of Honor Award, among others.
Before becoming vice president of health system services at Bryan, Carol served as president and CEO of Crete Area Medical Center for six years. Carol earned her master of public health in hospital administration and credential of advanced studies in health services administration (ISP) in hospital administration from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis. Carol has a bachelor’s degree in business management from Bellevue University in Bellevue, Nebraska.
Rural Division Financial Officer
Bryce has over 30 years of health care finance experience and has been with Bryan Health since 2008. As rural division financial officer, Bryce is responsible for planning, oversight, training, and compliance related to finance, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance for rural division owned, managed, and affiliated hospitals. He provides financial expertise and process improvement recommendations to rural hospital CFOs to ensure best practices.
Ken Foster, Rural Division Development Officer
Ken served as vice president of strategic planning and regional development for Bryan Health and executive director of Heartland Health Alliance for 20 years. After retiring in 2015, he returned to serve as a rural development officer for the Bryan Rural Division in 2016. As rural development officer, Ken’s focus is on helping support rural hospitals by connecting them with resources available from the Heartland Health Alliance and Bryan Health.
Brenda has more than 25 years of experience in healthcare including 17 years as a physician recruiter. As a rural Nebraska native, she understands the challenges rural hospitals face in recruiting providers to their communities. She has a strong commitment to finding the right fit for the physician and the practice. Brenda is a member of the Association of Staff Physician Recruiters (ASPR) and the Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas Midwest Physician Recruitment and Retention Network (MINK).
Human Resources Program Manager
Bobbie is a human resource professional for over 20 years. She has experience in all functions of human resources, specializing in the talent management process. Bobbie has a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a master’s degree in public administration with a focus in management. Her certifications include SPHR (senior professional in human resources) and SHRM-SCP (senior level HR professional).
Jayne Van Asperen,
Rural Division Quality Officer
Jayne serves as rural division quality officer for Bryan Health and network coordinator for the Heartland Health Alliance. She brings extensive experience in rural health to our team. Jayne is passionate about ensuring the rural communities she serves are able to provide the best care to their patients. Jayne earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Midland University in Fremont, NE.
