Bryan Heart Physician a “Life Saver”

While recovering from a 10-hour back surgery in October, Doug experienced atrial fibrillation—a type of irregular heart rhythm that can be a common occurrence after a surgery. While in the waiting room in Beatrice for a scheduled appointment, Doug fainted as Dr. Meier walked into the clinic. Dr. Meier's quick actions to apply the clinic's Automated External Defibrillator, or AED, to Doug’s chest gave him a second chance. Once revived, Doug was transported to Bryan Medical Center for a triple bypass.
