Bryan Health Named to Epic Honor Roll
For Fourth Consecutive Year
Bryan Health has been named to Epic’s Honor Roll for the fourth consecutive year for outstanding use of healthcare technology.
Epic is a global healthcare software company and creator of MyChart. The award reflects a broader commitment at Bryan Health to use technology to empower patients, improve their lives, assist clinicians and keep pace with the rapid advancement of technology and medical knowledge.
Bringing Artificial Intelligence to Nebraska Healthcare
Bryan Health’s use of artificial intelligence (AI) is already higher than average among Epic’s global customer base. Last quarter, Bryan’s use of AI increased by 231%. Several specific applications fueled this trend, including those that prioritize and organize clinician workflows by surfacing high-value messages, convert imaging impressions into tracked follow-ups and speed the creation and refinement of clinical text. All these measures help reduce administrative burden for clinicians, close patient care gaps and improve clinician-patient communication. Because Bryan Health is using AI directly in its electronic health record, the organization is scaling its leading-edge AI to facilities statewide.
“Artificial intelligence is the new frontier in healthcare technology,” said Bridgett Ojeda, chief information officer, Bryan Health. “Bryan’s targeted initiatives around physician ambient listening have been the most impactful. This allows providers to focus their time on serving patients instead of other tasks that take away from it, which will extend their active careers. The immediate benefits for healthcare professionals and our patients are very real.”
Promoting Physician Satisfaction
Based on recent patient experience survey results, nearly 92% of patients indicated they would recommend Bryan Health. The results reflect the organization’s continued focus on safe, compassionate and patient-centered care. Fireside chats, led by a chief medical information officer, provide physicians with a trusted space for meaningful conversations about clinical workflows, technology and care delivery. At Bryan, these sessions have strengthened collaboration between clinicians and leadership, contributing to improved physician satisfaction and alignment.
“You don’t earn providers trust over email,” said Scott Heasty, MD, chief medical information officer, Bryan Health. “You earn their trust with conversations and honesty. If something’s going to be harder, say so. If something’s better, show it.”
Information Sharing and Collaborative Health Care
In November, Bryan Health announced its participation in TEFCA, a federal initiative to strengthen secure health information sharing across the country. This follows seven years of successful information sharing, where the organization has completed just over 30 million record exchanges on behalf of its patients. Each year, thousands of Bryan Health’s patients receive care from other organizations for reasons like specialty referrals, travel and relocation. When providers can access complete patient histories at the point of care, they can make faster decisions, avoid redundant testing and reduce the risk of adverse events.
Connecting the Community
Bryan Health has embraced Epic Community Connect to make its industry leading technology available to smaller organizations in Nebraska that might not otherwise have it, including Community Medical Center in Falls City and New Life Clinic in Lincoln. The program reflects Bryan’s commitment to regional collaboration and high-quality care. Providing Epic hosting and support to community partners helps advance interoperability, operational efficiency and a more connected patient experience.
“Rural areas of Nebraska and the Midwest face unique healthcare challenges that require dedication, partnerships and creativity,” said Pat Ganyo, system vice president of rural services, Bryan Health, and executive director, Heartland Health Alliance.
As Nebraska’s only Epic Honor Roll organization for the fourth consecutive year, Bryan Health is uniquely positioned to support hospitals and clinics. This recognition reflects sustained excellence in leveraging Epic to improve patient care, safety and operational performance. Bryan’s continued investment in AI-enabled workflows within Epic help support clinician efficiency and improve care delivery, ensuring community partners benefit from emerging innovations in a safe, measured way.
