Keely Wiese honored with Tulip Award

Keely Wiese, Student Nurse Technician at Grand Island Regional Medical Center, was honored with a Tulip Award presentation on Wednesday, July 9, 2025.

Keely was nominated by April Harris, registered nurse at Grand Island Regional Medical Center. She wrote:

"Keely is always a ray of sunshine when she floats to us on ICU/PCU. She consistently comes to work, ready to work and learn. Her bedside manner and way of speaking to the elderly is admirable. She has so much compassion.

The other night we had a particular patient who really wanted to go home and refused to let herself sleep. Throughout the course of the night she became more and more delirious and eventually agitated that we would not let her leave. Keely immediately came to the rescue. She was able to turn the entire situation around by quickly redirecting the patient, calming her down, and distracting her. Within a few minutes the patient was again safe and we avoided having to medicate her, which would have potentially delayed her discharge back home.

Thank you Keely for being such a compassionate soul! You are truly going to make an amazing nurse someday!"

About the Tulip Award

Certified nursing assistants (CNAs) and certified medical assistants (CMAs) created the Touching Unique Lives in Practice (TULIP) Award to honor acts of compassionate care and outstanding service and highlight the key roles CNAs/CMAs play in the nursing setting.
