First Patient Treated at Kearney Regional Medical Center with New, Minimally Invasive Technology to Help Control High Blood Pressure

KRMC completes new groundbreaking procedure.

Kearney Regional Medical Center (KRMC) is proud to announce the successful completion of the first renal denervation (RDN) procedure at our facility. Performed by Dr. Kevin Hall, this innovative treatment offers new hope to patients with uncontrolled or resistant high blood pressure (hypertension).

Renal denervation is a minimally invasive procedure that targets overactive nerves surrounding the kidneys, which can play a key role in elevated blood pressure. Using a catheter-based device called the Symplicity™ blood pressure procedure, Dr. Hall was able to deliver energy to these nerves, calming their activity and helping to lower blood pressure without the need for a permanent implant.

Approved by the FDA in late 2023, this new procedure is designed for patients whose high blood pressure remains difficult to control, even with lifestyle changes and medication. Many patients struggle with managing hypertension, which is a leading contributor to stroke, heart disease, and other serious health conditions. The Symplicity™ procedure offers a promising, long-lasting solution that is “always on,” reducing the daily burden of multiple medications for some patients.

“Our goal is to bring innovative, evidence-based care to our community—and this milestone demonstrates just that, said Dr. Hall.

The successful treatment of the first patient marks a significant step forward in KRMC’s commitment to advanced cardiovascular care. This achievement also represents a hopeful future for many Nebraskans living with uncontrolled hypertension.
