Merrick Medical Center to Host a Celebration of Health & Life

Event kicks off a new tradition of healthy living in the community

Central City, Neb. – In conjunction with Litzenberg Memorial County Hospital’s new name (Merrick Medical Center), as well as its new Bryan Health ownership and Commitment to Health, hospital leaders and staff are hosting the first annual Celebration of Health & Life on July 4. The community-wide event will take place at the Fairgrounds after the Lone Tree Days Parade. Hospital officials say it will be fun for all ages.

Among several special guests will be Kim Russel, president and CEO, Bryan Health, and Gov. Pete Ricketts, who will proclaim July 5 as Health & Life Day in Merrick County. Everyone in attendance will be encouraged to take the Commitment to Health pledge, a way to inspire individuals to make healthy choices in their daily lives.

Individuals who sign the pledge will receive a drawstring bag with the new Merrick Medical Center logo, a small but useful reminder of their commitment to health. The event will also include food, games and more.

The 2017 Celebration of Health & Life will be the first of many, marking the start of a healthy, community-focused tradition that Merrick Medical Center plans to continue every summer. This year’s event will come just days after the Bryan Health acquisition of Litzenberg Memorial County Hospital is complete, at which point the hospital will become known as Merrick Medical Center.

Additionally, through a combination of traditional health care services, expanded fitness and wellness programs, telehealth technology, and community partnerships, hospital leaders say the organization is making a Commitment to Health that extends far beyond the hospital walls.

“Our Commitment to Health is as much about improving lives as it is about improving health,” said Julie Murray, president & CEO. “We hope everyone in the community will join us taking the Commitment to Health pledge at our Celebration of Health & Life event on the Fourth of July.”

Full details about the event will be posted on the Merrick Medical Center website and Facebook page soon.
