Bryan Health Utilizes New Light Management System to Increase Energy Efficiency, Patient Safety
Bryan Health is using a new light management system, ENCELIUM, to increase energy efficiency and patient safety at Bryan East Campus and Bryan West Campus.
“I’m not aware of any system on the market with as much flexibility as ours,” said Mike Wiruth, master electrician at Bryan Health. “Between both of our campuses, we have about 3 million square feet. We need a system that is reliable and could be used in multiple areas. ENCELIUM gave us those options. This program truly impacts everyone who walks through our doors.”
ENCELIUM is part of a lighting remodeling effort spanning both Bryan East Campus and Bryan West Campus. The system is a flexible, forward-thinking light management program that supports a wide range of environments. Patient rooms, nursing stations, surgical suites and employee offices have all been part of the project. The upgrade to the digital platform will result in a roughly 60 percent energy savings for the organization.
Here are some examples of the benefits:
- Employees can set the light levels in their works pace to suit their needs. An occupancy sensor installed in cubicles or corners shuts off the lights when the office is not in use. These factors have significantly increased energy savings and reduced daily maintenance calls.
- Radiologists and attending physicians have seen an extreme improvement. Lighting is particularly important in specialized rooms where radiology scans are studied. Appropriate levels are programmed to ensure patients receive the most accurate diagnosis. Hands-free technology also allows employees to trigger custom light scenes without manually changing settings.
