CPOM is an acronym for Computerized Provider Order Management
C – computerized. Orders will convert from a paper to an electronic format.
P – provider. This includes any ordering licensed provider: physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants.
O – order. This refers to the order selection of tests, medications and other patient care activities.
M – management. Electronic order management will:
- reduce clerical errors and eliminate
legibility concerns
- reduce time required to process orders
- provide critical clinical information to the
ordering provider
The implementation timeline is Late Fall 2013.
