Bryan College of Health Sciences Bachelor of Science in Nursing program wishes to announce that it will host a site review for continuing accreditation of its baccalaureate nursing program by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).

You are invited to meet the site visit team and share your comments about the program in person at a meeting scheduled for the public at 1500 on October 9, 2013 at Bryan College of Health Sciences.

Written comments are also welcome and should be submitted directly to:

Biomedical Sciences Program

  • Dr. Kay Crabtree earned her PhD

 
Nursing Program

  • Dr. Colleen Carpenter earned her DNP from George Washington University
  • Dr. Lina Bostwick earned her EdD from College of St. Mary
  • Rhonda Woodside was awarded the July Daisy award and also traveled to Chicago in July to write NCLEX test questions
  • Michelle Summers was promoted from Instructor to Assistant Professor
  • Julie Skrabal was selected to write questions for Pearson
  • Sue Pilker assumed her role as the Assistant Dean of Undergraduate Nursing on August 1st.
  • Dr. Theresa Delahoyde published another article on mentoring with her peers from the National League of Nursing. The article is titled “Connecting in Distance Mentoring: Communication Practices That Work” and was published in the journal Nurse Education Today. 
  • Dr. Marcia Kube received the College Outstanding Faculty Award in May.


Nurse Anesthesia Program

  • A May 2013 graduate of the School of Nurse Anesthesia, Sweety Paudel, CRNA, MS was selected to participate in the poster presentations at the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists Annual Meeting. The poster was titled: Intraoperative Lung Protective Ventilation Strategies in Acute Lung Injury. Assistant Professor Marcia Jensen, CRNA, MS was her faculty mentor.
  • Tyler Steffensmeier, a Senior student in the School of Nurse Anesthesia, will have a case report published the International Student Journal of Nurse Anesthesia. The case report is titled: Iatrogenic Pneumothorax during Electromagnetic Navigational Bronchoscopy and it was accepted for Fall 2013 or Spring 2014 publication. Assistant Professor Shannon Pecka, CRNA, MSN is the faculty mentor.
  • Recent publications from Sharon Hadenfeldt; Hadenfeldt, S. (2014). History of nurse anesthesia education: The Nebraska experience as a case study. Saarbrücken:Scholars Press.
