Bryan Medical Center has received the 2013 Excellence in Engagement Award from The Advisory Board Company.
Bryan Health was one of 20 organizations nationwide to have been honored as a leader in driving organizational commitment. This annual award recognizes top-performing hospitals and health systems nationwide for outstanding levels of employee engagement. Winners must also sustain low levels of disengagement.
“We are excited to receive this national recognition. It is a great reflection of the wonderful work that our team does each day to provide the best care for our patients and their families,” said human resources vice president Jan Garvin. “This accomplishment is just one milestone along our journey to excellence; we continue to work each day to create an environment that inspires our co-workers to do their best each and every day.”
According to The Advisory Board Company’s Steven Berkow, uncertainty surrounding health care reform is forcing many changes upon organizations, the majority of which directly affect an already overwhelmed workforce.
“Employee engagement plays a key role in how effectively each institution navigates this challenge,” he said. Engaged employees, as defined by The Advisory Board, are those who exhibit both loyalty and commitment to the organization. Such employees are willing to expend discretionary effort, often going above and beyond to help the organization succeed. The award recognizes our commitment to creating a best-in-class work environment for our employees.
