Clinical Transformation – Our Journey Continues

CPOM is an acronym for Computerized
          Provider Order Management

C – computerized. Orders will convert from
a paper to an electronic format.

P – provider. This includes any ordering
licensed provider: physicians, nurse
practitioners, physician assistants.

O – order. This refers to the order selection
of tests, medications and other patient care

M – management. Electronic order
management will:

  • reduce clerical errors and eliminate
    legibility concerns
  • reduce time required to process orders
  • provide critical clinical information to the
    ordering provider

The implementation timeline is Spring 2014.

Tuesday, October 22

  • New paper standard specialty order sets.
  • These new specialty based order sets will replace individual and group order sets. Starting Oct. 22, instead of using your individual or group order sets, you will use new specialty based order sets. These order sets were created in collaboration with physicians from each specialty.

  • Important process changes for range orders, contingency orders, admit status, code status and other processes.

Be prepared - attend an informational meeting

  • Thursday, Oct. 10, 7-7:45 a.m., presentation and Q&A from 7:15-7:45 a.m., Bryan East Campus, Plaza Conference Center, Hors d'oeuvres & drinks, social time, view demos at your leisure

Thank you in advance for taking time to attend a meeting.

CPOE/CPOM does not start until Spring 2014.

Recent eCHART enhancements made per physician request:

  • Radiology images available with Rad Report
  • Progress Notes templates
  • Blood sugar results in open census list
  • Patient count on printed census
  • “All micro” display changed to reverse chronological order
  • Page break added to printed census list with vitals to avoid confusion

To submit an eCHART enhancement request:

eCHART concerns about computer accessibility and log in times are being addressed in

the following ways:

  • Re-consideration of our approach to sign-on and multiple application management. The goal is to provide quick and easy access to eCHART and other applications such as ChartMaxx and PACS. We appreciate your patience as we work on these issues. We will keep you informed of our progress.
  • Testing possible mobile devices; working with Bryan provider groups.
  • Further investigation to create “Provider Priority” work areas on each floor at each campus. We want to enhance current work areas and provide multiple computers to improve access.
  • Email your ideas to Pat at or Dr. Cook at
