Bryan Health to Host Two New Monthly Cancer Support Groups Beginning in May

Lincoln, NE – Bryan Health will host two new monthly cancer support groups at Bryan West Campus beginning in May. These support groups offer a safe place where individuals and their loved ones can seek support and information in their fight against cancer.

“Bryan Health is committed to supporting cancer patients and their loved ones through treatment and recovery,” said Ruth VanGerpen, oncology nurse navigator at Bryan Health. “Patients have asked for a setting in which they can share their experiences. We are happy to be able to provide a safe place where everyone can seek support and information from those going through similar situations.”

The two new cancer support groups will be designed for individuals with a general cancer diagnosis and individuals with a breast cancer diagnosis. These sessions will provide an opportunity for those with cancer and their loved ones to share experiences, ask questions and receive support from others. A social worker, oncology nurse navigator or guest speaker will facilitate an open discussion during each session that involves information about cancer and treatment, ways to improve quality of life and tips on how to cope with cancer.
