Magazine

The healthcare industry is continually changing. To keep you up-to-date, we send you Bryan Health's Journeys magazine quarterly to help you get the most out of the Sterling Connection program. It includes articles on health, lists of new Sterling Connection features, information on schedules for educational seminars, locations of special events, travel opportunities and much more.

Travel Opportunities

You can travel near and far on trips planned for members of Sterling Connection, their relatives and friends. This is a great way to meet other Sterling Connection members and make new friends. Trips range from one day to two weeks. Trip schedules appear in each issue of Journeys magazine.

Advance Directives

Advance directives such as a living will or a durable power of attorney for health care will assist your family in knowing what your wishes are during an illness if you are unable to speak for yourself. Free advance directive forms are available at the Sterling Connection office or call (402) 481-3355 and we will mail one to you.

• Food Service

The Bryan Health Nutrition & Dining Services department offers you a 10 percent discount on your meals only. The discount is for members only and does not include other guests that may be with you. This discount is for meals purchased at the medical center cafeterias and the Bryan Medical Plaza Café. To receive your 10 percent discount, show the cashier your Sterling Connection membership card.

Family members, guests, or Sterling Connection members who are here for a long period of time and eating frequent meals in the cafeterias may want to take advantage of Nutrition & Dining Services' Frequent Customer Reward Program.

Here's how the program works:

Collect a Reward Coupon for every $5 spent in any of our three Bryan Health dining centers. Five coupons can then be redeemed for $3 off a future purchase. You potentially can save up to 12 percent on all of your food and beverage purchases.

Coupons are available and redeemable at all three of our nutrition and dining services locations. The program is not available with any other discount. There is no cash value to the coupons; no change is given to a redeemed purchase of less than $3.

You may only receive 10 percent off or a reward coupon, not both.

• Café Express

Café Express is located in the lobby on both the East and West sites. Hours are Monday-Friday, 6:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., and Saturday-Sunday, 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Ask about the Café Express Frequent Customer Reward plan. Please note that the Sterling Connection discount and complimentary meal coupons are only redeemable in the three dining centers mentioned above, not the Café Express.

• Gift & Floral Shops

Sterling Connection members will receive a 20 percent discount on healthcare items and gift items purchased at the Bryan Health Gift & Floral Shops, including the Mom and Baby Shop. Just show the cashier your Sterling Connection membership card and ask for your discount. The Gift & Floral Shops are located in the main lobby of each medical center, and the Mom and Baby Shop is located in the Women and Children's Tower at Bryan East Campus.

• LifePointe

Take your dream trip, dance with your granddaughter, build your strength, recover from illness or injury, push your boundaries and gain new confidence. Bryan LifePointe is a medically based health improvement center offering a full range of medical, wellness, spa and urgent care services.

At LifePointe, we will meet with you, create a wellness or therapy program just for you and provide ongoing personal guidance and support. You will feel a sense of belonging - of being with others who know how you feel and want you to succeed.

Sterling Connection Representative to Help You at the Medical Center

When you are a patient at Bryan Medical Center you may have questions about the medical center and what you should expect during your stay. You can rest easier knowing our Sterling Connection representative is there if you need help. Just call the Sterling Connection office at (402) 481-3355 to have a representative visit you.

Health Screenings

• Blood Lipid Screening: This screening includes cholesterol, HDL, LDL, and Triglycerides. Sterling Connection members only may take advantage of this special priced screening. $20
• Comprehensive Blood Chemistry Screening: This screening includes a number of tests including a comprehensive metabolic panel, TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone), a lipid panel (cholesterol) and hemogram. $45 for anyone; $40 for Sterling Connection members.

• Cardio C-Reactive Protein (CRP): This is a highly sensitive blood test that can help evaluate your risk of heart disease. 12 hours of fasting required. $45
• Glycohemoglobin (HbA1c): This test indicates your average blood sugar levels in the previous two to three months. $20
• Prostate Cancer Screening (PSA): A blood test that is one indicator of prostate cancer. $30
• Cardiovascular Screenings: The following screenings are offered once a month by appointment only. Call (402) 481-5121 to register.
  • Carotid Artery Ultrasound, $40: this painless, non-invasive screening detects plaque deposits in the carotid arteries. These plaque deposits are a leading risk factor for stroke.
  • Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Ultrasound Screening, $40: This painless, non-invasive screening detects the presence eof an aneurysm in the abdominal aorta.
  • Heart Screening, $40: If you've had a heart attack, have heart disease, a family history of sudden cardiac arrest, a diagnosis of heart failure or abnormal heart rhythm, you need to know your ejection fraction score (EF). This screening echocardiogram is a painless, non-invasive ultrasound of the heart that will tell you your EF score. Knowing this number could save your life. Registered Bryan Health cardiac sonographers will screen qualified individuals and results will be read by a Bryan Health cardiologist.
  • Peripheral Arterial Disease Screening, $20: This painless, non-invasive screening detects diminished blood flow due to a narrowing or blockage in the arteries feeding the lower extremities.
